Redeeming Light School of Biblical Studies Print E-mail

ImageDr. Evelyn Keys Spears is a native of Wisner, Louisiana, and resides in Angleton, Texas, where she is director of Redeeming Light School of Biblical Studies.  She is an ordained minister and former pastor.  She is married to James D. Spears, Sr.

Dr. Spears received her early education at Wisner Elementary School and Wisner-Gilbert High School.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education at Grambling State University and a Master of Education plus 30 at University of Louisiana-Monroe.  Her secular career included classroom teacher, librarian, Coordinator of Media Services for the Franklin Parish School System, and Elementary School Principal.  While she was a school principal, Spears was named a finalist for Louisiana Principal of the Year and selected by the State Superintendent of Education to participate in the National Principals Leadership Academy at the University of Delaware.  During that time, she also served as chairman of the state appointed committee that set standards for early childhood education in the state of Louisiana.  She also completed training and served in National Association of Secondary School Principals(NASSP) Principal Assessor Center in Baton Rouge.

Spears has been a life-long member of the New Light Baptist Church where she was licensed and ordained to the Gospel Ministry by Pastor Jerry L. Bailey.  She is affiliated with New Revelation Full Gospel Baptist Church in Brazoria, Texas where Reverend Abe Mack is pastor, and with Macedonian Call of Humble, Texas where Vincent Pool is the founding Apostle and Leader.  Spears earned a Diploma of Practical Ministry from Liberty School of Ministry and Bible Institute, a Masters in Religious Education from United Theological Seminary and Bible College (UTS), both of Monroe, and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity through Bell Grove Theological Seminary of North Hills, California.   As a student at UTS, she served as Student Body President.  After graduation, she became a member of the school’s faculty.  At New Light Baptist Church, she has served as an usher, Sunday School teacher and Superintendent, secretary-teacher of the Mission Ministry, VBS Director, and mid-week service Bible teacher.  She is a former pastor of St. Paul No. 2 Baptist Church of Wisner.  Spears is a preacher and teacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, a conference speaker/teacher, a certified Christian Counselor, and writer.  She also edits material for publication.

Evelyn Keys Spears finds her greatest joy in developing her relationship with God and teaching others the simplicity of the Gospel.  She loves seeing people give their life to the Lord and when possible, helping to disciple them.

She is the daughter of Mrs. Ethel Neal Keys and the late Eugene Keys.  She is a mother and grandmother who loves her children dearly.
