Phase 1: In the year of 1975, under the Leadership of the Holy Spirit, a vision was born to Rev. H. H. Fletcher to establish a work for the building of the Kingdom of God. To restore and build up a better place for our young people and men and women to be guided to a better lifestyle for Christ.

On September 1, 1975 at 11 oclock A. M., a meeting was called under the direction of the Southern Lincoln District Association.

Phase 2: The Church moved from the lodge hall to a larger building at 720 W. Broad St. Thw church building was being purchased from Bro. Larry Grable. The church was at this location for eight (8) years but because of the condition of the building and the extreme repair work needed, the building was returned to Bro. Grable.

A building became available at 416 east 6th when St Emanuel moved to it's present location. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit, SMBC decided to purchase the building. The neighborhood had a lot of problems with crime but these were the people that Rev. Fletcher was called to minister to.

Phase 3: At the request of Rev Fletcher, Rev Eddie Battis was granted the pastorship. He served well for 2 years and then resigned. Rev. Rogers Nicholes was called as intrium pastor and later called as pastor. He served 1 year and a half and resigned. Rev. Lewis Thomas was called as Intrium pastor and later called by the church as pastor. Under his leadership two ministers were called, Bro. Marcus Lincoln and Bro Jeffrey Nicholes. He served the church well and it grew but he also decided to resign after two years of service to the church.
